Origination: RFP - Preventing Biological Pollution

The Minnesota Sea Grant Program team will train the research and resource management communities in the use of the Hazard and Critical Control Point methodology to identify and eliminate the risk of introducing aquatic nuisance species in their routine operations. The HACCP methodology was developed to prevent the contamination of foodstuffs and has been expanded to apply to the bait and aquaculture industries. This methodology requires that participants identify potentially risky behavior and the critical times when that behavior must be modified to prevent the spread of invasive species. The project team will use the Sea Grant extension agents in six states to provide this training and act as a resource for state and federal resource management agencies and research institutions.
